Praised for her vocal agility, expressive performances, and captivating stage presence, Canadian soprano Allison McAuley was most recently seen as Mme. Herz in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor. She has performed a variety of roles including Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Noémie (Cendrillon), The Plaintiff Angelina (Trial by Jury), Charlotte Malcolm (A Little Night Music), and Kristy in the children’s opera House with Nevada Opera. Ms. McAuley covered Gilda (Rigoletto) for New York Lyric Opera Theatre and has also covered the role of Gretel (Hansel and Gretel). She was a regional finalist in the 2011 Classical Singer Competition in New York City, and has appeared on the television shows Are you Maria?, System Crash, and Canada’s MuchMusic.
Ms. McAuley was born in Oakville, Ontario, attained her Bachelor of Music Performance degree at Queen’s University and earned her Masters of Music in Opera from New York University. She has been engaged as an artist in programs including the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, OperaWorks, Nevada Opera’s Resident Artist Program, the New York Lyric Opera Emerging Artist Program, and The Manhattan School of Music Summer Voice Festival. This past season she has performed with The Opera Company of Brooklyn, The Canadian Music Competitions, and Operaworks in Los Angeles. This spring she will be performing with New York Lyric Opera Theatre and the Saint Andrew Chorale in New York City, where she will also be seen playing the title role in Psyche, a new opera by Jeff Baker. This coming fall she will be performing a joint recital in Manhattan and traveling to Europe to perform in Austria.
